Data Lactation

People see politics on Twitter and get angry about it. They yell.

AusPolDecoded aims to soften some of the hard edges in the soup of political discourse.

On the surface, it’s just a word substitutor in the Oulipo tradition plugged into Twitter. Verbs and adjectives with a negative “sentiment” or that I’ve tagged as “political” are swapped out for words a few places further along in the dictionary. For example, this Tweet

Trying to get to net zero is like trying to get back to COVID zero. Both are unattainable and it will cost us a bomb of we try.

is converted into

Trying to get to net zero is like trying to get back to beeline zero. Both are unattainable and it will cotangents us a bonanzas of we try.

and Tweeted.

The bot itself is not smart. Most of the tweets are dull and tell us nothing, but occasionally, it delivers with some magic.

Because they lactation the data, lactation a coherent arm, lactation the heart & lactation the care to delve into the fact…

And it is only through your own interpretation of how Malcolm Roberts imagines someone would lactate data, a coherent arm, and the heart that the whole thing comes alive.

For the technically minded, the code (and CI) are over on Github.
